About Dayton Ballet School
The Dayton Ballet School is dedicated to giving people of all ages and abilities the opportunity to experience and appreciate the art of dance. Dance classes help create a community of people sharing the same experience and striving for the same goal. We take pride in the fact that many of our students have gone on to become ballet professionals as dancers, costume designers, choreographers and teachers.
We Have a History...

Founded by Josephine and Hermene Schwarz in 1927
The oldest dance school in Dayton

Among the oldest dance schools in the United States

The only dance school in the Miami Valley associated with a professional dance company
Josephine Schwarz, referred to as Miss Jo, asked that we continue the tradition established by her and Miss Hermene of “offering the highest quality dance training to professionals and non-professionals alike.”
Dayton Ballet boasts spacious dedicated dance studios, with three studios occupying the fourth floor of the historic Victoria Theatre.
Marley floors, mirrored wall, and miles of barre ensure that there is plenty of space to move and grow as a dancer.
